Hanmille Management Team at Hanyang University

Hanmille Management Team at Hanyang University work for the Office of International Cooperation in dealing with the Internationals at School.This is the top management striving  for the memorable stay of international students at Hanyang University.Hanmille is the combination of two words Han 'means Hanyang University" and mille is the obsolete word of means "Eternal friendship". So Hanmille means eternal friendship at Hanyang University. 

The main responsibility of the Hanmille management team is to organize and run the mentoring program and to arrange the "NULPUMDURI" and "Hanmille NIGHT". The mentoring program is very famous at Hanyang University. The OIC offers this program to Korean students having one credit hour and much more opportunities. The only duty of the mentors are to give company to the fresh internationals to help them making their Korean life easy and amazing.

The selection of mentors is a process which may take around two weeks. The positions are advertised in school via many clubs, school website and through notice boards in departments and dorms. The Hanmille management team take the interviews of the interested mentors and select the best of them according to the need of the day. In this regards the mentors willingness, interest, personality, devotion and the speaking skills are considered. The mentors and mantes teams are paired according to their needs and requirements and some times they are allocated in random.

For me it is a matter of honor to serve in this team for the consecutive 3 rd semester as I am the first ever foreigner student who is working in this ream.For me it is more helpful experience than my expatiation as it gave me some very nice Korean friends and also it helped me learning Korean language more confidently. Our Team consists of Jae Yeon Choi, Sangbum Kim, Summer Hyunjoo Jang,장다혜, Chang Suji,정호진,Choi Won Seok,Park Chihyun including myself. It is really really a nice experience working with all these nice people.

The first ever meeting of mentors and mantes is done though Nulpumdori where they are provided with an opportunity to understand each other. The role and responsibilities of mentors are also mentioned. Moreover the internationals are informed on how they can work out their problems.

The mentors and mantes and their relation with oneanother is evaluated througha number of procedures in the semester. Morover the menotrs have to submit a report on how he has helped the mente in his/her routine life. On the basis of this evaluation the best mentor and mantes pear is selected and they are awarded at the end of semester in an other meeting called "Hanmille Night".

All this activities are under the supervision of the OIC representatives at Hanyang University. As we are working in ERICA campus so we are cooperating with Mr Shin and Mis Sunmi Chang and Yoo Hyunkeong. They are really cooperative and all the way they provided a friendly environment.

I must say this mentoring program is one of the best experience we have had in Hanyang University. All the Internationals are able to make their stay comfortable, lovely and memorable in Hanyang University and Korea. To me it is a great source of language exchange and to develop a respect for multicultural environment. Hanmille Management invites you for that.
