Dongdaemun Sunday market [Buzz Korea]

Dongdaemun is quite famous from shopping point of view in Korea. There is a number of Plazas where you can find almost everything in reasonable prices. Dongdaemun shopping complex and dongdaemun markets have been some of the main markets in Korea. Specializing in wholesale, the market has developed excessively, having almost 20-25 shopping malls. All kinds of fashion items from head to toe can be found here at more reasonable prices. The market is always packed with customers, retailers, foreigners, tourists and residence of Korea. As a matter of fact most of the people are not wholesalers and they are looking forwards for an item or two but at the same cheap prices as for the wholesale. Dungdaemun have a solution for them as well. Yes, the Sunday special market of dongdaemun is a source of joys for many tourists, foreigners and Koreans as well.  Those people who have a tough schedule all the way in week can rush to visit the Sunday market of dongdaemun specially the workers community that can be seen in large number.

I had a chance last week to visit with family the very well-known and famous Sunday market of dongdaemun.

Just after the exit, in the straight direction you can found a very crowded place, this is from where the journey begins. You can found small shops all around the walking track. At first sight it seems really cool because the prices tags really attract every one. Every street is full of buyers and tourists searching for the things of their choice. You may see separate markets for shoes where shoes of different brands are available at more cheap prices. On right side of the shoes market is the fabric market where a good of fabrics can be obtained. The cloth market is the other place of attraction where all kind of clothes can be found. There is variety of fashions where you can found a thing of your choice.

The kids market is the place where different stuffs of kids is available for different seasons including shirts, pants, shorts, coats and shoes.

There are some branded shops along the road side opposite to the famous doota market where different items can be purchased at discounted prices. Actually these are a kind of outlets where there is an ever green sale throughout the year.  Even though stores may sell goods wholesale, individual consumers and tourists purchase them at retail prices. The market offers special fabrics not found anywhere else and sells material and accessories at very reasonable prices. Simple accessories can even be made on-site at some stores.

I found another market of my choice i.e. the kid’s toy market which was beyond my expectation as there were a all kinds of toys and for different age of children’s. I take some stuff for my baby, which we were unable to found in Lotte mart and home plus near my home. This market also contained some books stores and stationary shops.

You can see plenty of currency exchange services and information desks provide a pleasant shopping experience for international visitors. There are number of food stores and pizza huts at different exits of dungdaemun station and the best thing over there is the availability of halal pizza for the vegetarians and Muslims.

I found it a really rational place for shopping and I recommend it for every residence of Seoul to spare some time and enjoy shopping in dungdaemun. The recently constructed Dongdaemun design plaza and park is an amazing place to visit. You can sit and enjoy the nature very closely. There are different arts hall and a museum where you can observe the history of Korea and the dongdaemun. This DDP is a special addition to the attractions of Seoul
